Welcome to March. The month of Spring Break, Spring Holidays and Spring Wish it was Warmer Weather.
Many March activities include rainbows which is a great time to target basic concepts. I really like using basic concepts within therapy because even if the concepts themselves are not language goals using them within language tasks can generalize understanding.
The concept of colors may not be a language goal but anecdotally it appears more difficult for our friends with language disorders to identify and label colors. Therefore, using rainbows in a therapy activity can target sequencing and following directions while also reinforcing the basic concept of colors.
Now that I’ve made my argument for rainbow activities in March I’ve included a link to one of my favorite Pinterest Rainbow activities. The Dabbling Speechie has lots of activities that can be modified for various levels.
And remember, warmer weather is coming!
